orange county fc 2 advances to upsl socal semifinals with 4-0 victory

Los Angeles, CA - Orange County FC 2 head coach Paul Caligiuri’s feels his men did not play their best game against Sporting San Fernando on December 8, but a 4-0 victory has put OCFC 2 into the UPSL Western Conference SoCal Semifinals.

Early on it appeared as if the OCFC players were out of sync after a lack of matches in the previous month.

Sporting San Fernando had the perfect opportunity to take the lead after a giveaway from OCFC keeper Adrian Hirt, but striker Carlos Gonzalez hit his shot wide of an open net.

It turned out to be the best scoring opportunity for San Fernando in the first half as OCFC 2 answered with three goals in the first half.

Venezuelan left-back Flavio Olioso pounced on a loose ball after a corner kick to give OCFC 2 the lead. A header from Josh Davis bounced off the post and Olioso was in the right place at the right time to fire the ball into the net.

Minutes later Connor Gordon doubled the lead for OCFC after some excellent team work with midfielder Jonny Romero.

Later in the first half another corner kick led to another OCFC goal as Colombian winger Kley Bejarano knocked in a rebound to give OCFC 2 a comfortable 3-0 lead.

There was hardly any drama in the second half, but midfielder Jonny Romero put on the finishing touches when his free kick early in the second half went into the far corner of the net to give OCFC 2 a 4-0 lead.

Mark Aguilar took over goalkeeping duties for OCFC in the second half and helped preserve the shutout victory.
