Flores and Bynoe each notch a brace in ocfc victory

Lake Forest, CA – Entering the 2020 Spring UPSL season, the thought process was to forget about the fall and get started on a positive note.

Orange County FC did exactly that with a 6-3 victory over USA Soccer Stars FC on March 8 at Lake Forest Sports Park.

Ironically, it was a bad start that gave OCFC a much-needed wake-up call as USA Soccer Stars took the lead inside the first ten minutes.

But OCFC responded when a cross from Joshua Bynoe was finished off with a back-post header from Oscar Flores.

Bynoe then got his name on the scoresheet later in the first half to give OCFC a 2-1 advantage.

The second half was a much different story as OCFC extended the lead to 6-1 through goals from Connor Gordon, Oscar Flores, Jose Montes de Oca, and Joshua Bynoe respectively.

USA Soccer Stars FC did answer back twice to cut the lead to 6-3. But OCFC showed its dominance in the high scoring affair.

“Overall, we showed some good flashes of chemistry,” midfielder Oscar Flores said.

“Offensively, we were in sync and at times we were so focused on scoring that we sent numbers forward and forgot we had to defend, too.”

The high-powered offense from OCFC was definitely something for head coach Paul Caligiuri to smile about, but work must be done on the defensive end as well.

Next up for OCFC is a road match against FC Fury on March 15.
