San Diego, CA – A lot was at stake entering this match between the two rivals of the NPSL Southwest.

Three points for the winning team would mean getting closer to clinching the top spot in the division.

Orange County FC started the match as the better team by dominating possession, but it didn’t take long for both teams to trade chances.

Early on Albion keeper Jean Antoine was called into action and was forced to make a diving save to deny Michael Bryant.

At the other end of the field, after some nice build-up, striker Amani Walker missed a point-blank opportunity in front of the net and put his shot high over the bar.

Late in the first half, a ball from Daniel Crisostomo found Daniel Yo and the right-back sent his pass toward Alessandro Canale.

Everyone froze as Canale dummied the ball and the result was Connor Gordon firing the ball beautifully into the net to give OCFC a 1-0 lead.

Albion brought pressure to start the second half and its efforts paid off in the 55th minute when a corner kick was headed home by Amani Walker to level the score at 1-1.

Minutes later at the other end of the field, OCFC had the chance to retake the lead but Jean Antoine came off his line to deny winger Dakota Collins.

Just after the hour mark, midfielder Daniel Crisostomo was at the forefront of the attack and his pass found Connor Gordon.

Gordon made no mistake and beat Antoine at the near post to put OCFC back in the lead.

Orange County FC looked to extend the lead and did exactly that only minutes later when center back Erik Mueller pounced on a rebound after a corner kick to give OCFC a 3-1 lead.

The second half continued to be a very entertaining affair as Dallin Cutler nearly cut the lead, but his header was nicely saved by a diving Brandon Gomez to preserve the two-goal advantage.

Albion did what it could to try and get back into the game, but OCFC executed well and stood firm on way to a hard-earned victory.

The bye week comes at the perfect time for OCFC after a grueling few weeks that consisted of matches in the NPSL and two rounds of play in the U.S. Open Cup.

Now OCFC can rest up and look to finish strong while being at the top of the NPSL Southwest.
