Lake Forest, CA - OCFC 2 earned its third win of the season on Saturday night October 29 against visitors Sporting San Fernando Valley at Lake Forest Sports Park.

The home side got off to a fast start at the five-minute mark when Sam Merritt put OCFC 2 in the lead.

Captain Jonny Romero sent a free kick into the penalty area. The ball found its way to Kody Shelton before it was hammered in by Sam Merritt for his first goal of the season.

Newcomer Dakota Collins doubled the lead for OCFC 2 when he scored in the 21st minute.

Sporting SFV got back into the game when they took advantage of a defensive blunder to cut the lead to 2-1.

Right at the half-hour mark, Jonny Romero scored his fifth goal of the season when he perfectly placed his free kick into the top near corner to extend OCFC 2’s lead to 3-1.

The game stayed quiet until Sporting SFV cut the lead once again after converting a penalty kick.

Playing with a one-goal lead, OCFC 2 stayed disciplined and kept pushing forward and were finally rewarded when Jonny Romero sent a through ball to Collins and the new striker sealed the game in the 87th minute with his second goal of the game.

It was a good win for OCFC 2 and they continue to climb up the UPSL Pro Premier standings.

Leading scorer Jonny Romero had plenty of positives to say about OCFC 2 debutant Dakota Collins.

“Dakota is a very dynamic player with good technique,” said Romero. “He is explosive and we really benefited from his help up top.”

Two goals in his debut was perfect for Dakota Collins and next up for OCFC 2 is a road match against Santa Clarita Storm.
