Irvine, CA - OCFC 2 got a break from competitive play and faced Newport FC of UPSL Championship on Saturday 21 October at Great Park in Irvine.

OCFC 2 took a 1-0 lead fifteen minutes into the match through Nicolai Dejbakhsh. The fifteen year-old midfielder scored his first goal as a member of OCFC 2 and continues to show progression playing in the UPSL Pro Premier Division as one of the youngest players in the league.

Dejbakhsh's popularity among his teammates has already earned him the nickname "Nico the Kid."

The score remained the same going into the interval and Newport FC was able to hang tough throughout the match but OCFC 2 put the game out of reach when Caesar Garcia found the back of the net with twenty minutes remaining.

In the 87th minute, Togolese defender Martial Attiso added the finishing touch to give OCFC 2 the 3-0 victory.

OCFC 2 are eager to get back to competitive play and leading scorer Jonny Romero was very upbeat after the match.

"The game against Newport FC was great practice for us," said Romero. "We played hard and tried some things we needed to fix."

OCFC 2 do not have much time to repair any loose ends as they will host Sporting San Fernando Valley on 29 October at Lake Forest Sports Complex.
