Aurelia partida nets a brace in 4-2 victory over lionside fc

Lake Forest, CA – Orange County FC 2 was looking to establish its dominance against Lionside FC on September 29 at Lake Forest Sports Park.

And with OCFC 2 dominating play in midfield, it didn’t take long to find the go-ahead goal as midfielder Julien Guy’s physicality was too much for Lionside to handle.

In the 10th minute, Guy created a turnover and got the ball to Jonny Romero.

Romero wasted no time and quickly found striker Aurelio Partida making a perfectly timed run between the Lionside center backs.

Partida put his shot past goalkeeper Sergio Orozco to give OCFC 2 a 1-0 lead.

In the first half was all OCFC 2 as keeper Jake Hansen hardly had anything to do at his end of the field.

The pressure from OCFC 2 continued and Jonny Romero got his name on the scoresheet when he pounced on a loose ball in the Lionside penalty area double OCFC 2’s lead in the 35th minute.

Seven minutes later, center back Ryan Holland joined the attack and became provider when his pass was brilliantly hammered into the net by Jose Montes de Oca.

Playing with a 3-0 lead to start the second half, head coach Paul Caligiuri made a few changes and gave keeper Hansen the night off.

But a mistake from backup goalkeeper Adrien Hirt got Lionside back in the match when Daniel Andazola capitalized on a bad pass.

Four minutes later, the lead was cut to 3-2 after Shadrach Saydee scored off a corner kick.

Suddenly, the easy win for OCFC 2 became a dogfight as Lionside was playing with plenty of confidence and only trailed by one goal.

But OCFC 2 refused to fall flat and weathered the storm when Jose Montes de Oca became provider as his cross was headed into the net by Partida to increase the lead to 4-2.

The physical play continued in the second half but OCFC 2 tightened up and Lionside was unable to produce anymore clear-cut scoring opportunities.

A win is a win, but the play from Lionside at the start of the second half should serve as a warning to the OCFC 2 players that no opponent should be underestimated.
