Lake Forest, CA – It was the semifinals of the UPSL Western Conference SoCal playoffs and OCFC 2 was playing against Oxnard Guerreros, a team that the OCFC organization had defeated in the seven previous encounters.

Six of those matches were victories for OCFC in NPSL play and the other one was earlier this season in September ended up being a 3-1 win for OCFC 2.

On Sunday December 22, nothing changed as OCFC 2 dominated in a 5-1 victory at Lake Forest Sports Park.

In the first half, OCFC 2 controlled possession while Oxnard took some chances on the counterattacks but was unable to capitalize.

It looked as if the game would remain scoreless going into the interval, but winger Cristian Gordillo punished Oxnard on a giveaway by finding Jose Montes de Oca all alone on a breakaway.

Montes de Oca made no mistake and slotted the ball home past Oxnard keeper Angel Cervantes to make it 1-0 for OCFC 2 in the 37th minute.

Nine minutes after the restart, Oxnard was awarded a penalty after a foul by OCFC keeper Jake Hansen.

Christian Lopez scored from the spot to tie up the game at 1-1.

It didn’t take long for OCFC 2 to respond as once again, Gordillo was the provider when he found winger Justice Duerksen free near the penalty area.

Duerksen made no mistake and fired his shot past Cervantes in the 56th minute.

But OCFC 2 was not in the mood for the night to become suspenseful and kept pushing forward.

Six minutes later, right-back Tarzan Fernandez sent the perfect ball to Montes de Oca in the Oxnard penalty area.

Montes de Oca beautifully controlled the volley and fired a shot that bounced off the crossbar and into the net to make it 3-1.

Five minutes later, Jordan Chrzan was brought down in the penalty area and OCFC 2 was awarded a penalty.

Second half substitute Flavio Olioso stepped up and calmly put his shot past Cervantes to make it 4-1 for OCFC 2.

The rout continued as more second half substitutes joined in on the fun in the 82nd minute when Mo Abboushi carried the ball into the Oxnard penalty area and sent his cross towards Leon Sultan.

Sultan knocked the ball into the net with his left foot as OCFC took a commanding 5-1 lead.

Afterwards, Sultan had the celebration of the match as he displayed a cartwheel and a backflip to finish off a perfect night.

A 5-1 win over Oxnard, and now OCFC 2 can focus its attention on the UPSL Western Conference SoCal Final against Santa Ana Winds FC.
