former ocfc midfielder signs with usl championship club

Lake Forest, CA – Connor Gordon is going places, but not very far in terms of distance.

It is a bittersweet feeling as midfielder Connor Gordon has signed his first professional contract with Orange County SC of the United Soccer League.

Gordon was a fan favorite for OCFC during the 2017 and 2018 seasons in the NPSL and made an immediate impact with a brace in his debut appearance against SoCal SC.

“I am very happy for Connor for achieving his dream of playing professionally,” OCFC owner Nader Dejbakhsh said.

“For the past two seasons he was a big part of the OCFC family. I wish him all the best and success.”

Connor Gordon established himself as one of the top midfielders in the NPSL and was instrumental in helping OCFC make it to the NPSL Regional Finals in 2017 and 2018.

"It is a huge tribute to Connor's quality performance and dedication over the past two seasons with OCFC that led to a professional contract," OCFC head coach Paul Caligiuri said.

"We are all very excited and happy for Connor to begin what we all believe will be a successful soccer career."

The change of going from Orange County FC to Orange County SC probably won’t affect Gordon very much considering both teams play their home matches in Irvine.

Orange County SC is coached by Braeden Cloutier and managed by Oliver Wyss of Switzerland.

In 2018, Orange County SC topped the Western Conference in the regular season before being eliminated by Phoenix Rising FC in the Conference Finals.
